This year, we started with a whole school topic called ‘Let’s Go Wild!‘ For the first two weeks of school, we had a focus on how we could rewild areas of our school, thinking about the local wildlife and how we can help to promote biodiversity.
We went into the woodland on a few occasions. Firstly, just to explore the space and remind ourselves of what areas we already have. Then, we went on a treasure hunt, where we found clues about the wildlife that may be local to us. We also used this topic as inspiration for some of our wider curriculum lessons. We used watercolours to create our own images of British wildlife in Art, we created fantastic non-chronological reports about hedgehogs and owls in English, we also took part in a musical theatre workshop and some yoga exercises.
Possibly the most exciting and memorable experience of the week, was getting to hold the owls that came to visit!
