Welcome to Class 17!
The children have made an excellent start to year 6 and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us!
There are 24 children in class 17 and our teacher is Miss Lambert (Mrs Smelt teaches on a Thursday).
Miss Cunningham also supports in class.
We love hearing from the parents and carers of our children in Class 17. If you wish to contact us, please either catch us at the beginning or end of the day to make an appointment, phone the school office to make an appointment or you can email us. Our year group email is: THPYear6@nclt.ac.uk
Thank you for your continued support.
P.E.
Please try to bring your PE kit into school on a Monday. We expect children to bring their PE kits in a drawstring bag and remember to take them home regularly to be washed.
Homework
Homework is given out every Friday to be returned the following Friday. The year 6 children have now started their CGP booklets and it is really important that these are completed and brought in on time. The are an excellent revision material that helps to support work being done in class. Children are also given weekly spellings every Friday and will be tested the following Friday. We encourage the children to learn their spellings throughout the week rather than all in one night. Our newly introduced scheme ‘Spelling Frame’ is an excellent way to practise spellings at home.
Reading
Reading Planners will be checked on a Friday but should be in school every day for us to write in. Children who read three times a week will be rewarded with a ‘reading token’ tick which will be added to our whole-class reading target! If your child reads 5 times a week, additional tokens and Golden Tickets will be given. We are set a target for the number of reading tokens that we earn each half term and, if we meet it, the whole class get to enjoy a special reward. The Reading Reward is decided by the class.
