Breakfast Club and After School Club are out of hours provisions that are available for all children who attend Thorpe Hesley Primary School. Both Clubs aim to provide an exciting, creative and stimulating environment for all children who attend and with a variety of activities on offer. Children are cared for by staff who work within each building and therefore have experience and the knowledge of the children in school.
Our provision has a huge range of activities and toys for the children to play with. we have access to games consoles, arts and craft, board games and access to outside provision when the weather is suitable.

You will be added to the online booking system and payment area on Arbor and asked to fill out a contact & registration form.
Breakfast Club
Reception to Year 6
Our Breakfast Club starts at either 7.30am or 8:00am. We have two dedicated rooms and the children are split depending on their year group. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children are in the outside classroom at the top of the junior building yard and the Junior children (Y3 to Y6) are in the junior building breakfast club room.
The Nest and Nursery
Children in The Nest and Nursery (class 1) can also attend breakfast club from 8am. This is held in the infant building. Please contact Mrs Durham for more information.
Daily Food Options
Every day the children may choose from the following breakfast items;
- Fruit Juice
- Milk
- Cereal
- Fresh Fruit
- Toast (choice of spreads)
- Yoghurt
- Porridge
Daily Hot Specials
As well as a daily hot special from the following options;
- Beans on Toast
- Spaghetti on Toast
- Pancakes
- Croissants
- Scrambled Egg on Toast
- Cheese on Toast
Timing and Dropping Off
Children must be brought to Breakfast Club by an adult, signed in and then handed over to the member of staff on duty.
Please note – no vehicles to come down the school drive.
Breakfast club finishes just before the start of school with infant children being walked to their classroom at 8:40am, KS2 children are released to their lines at 8:35am.
Charges
The price for breakfast club is as follows:
- Reception to Y6 – £7.00 7.30am start.
- Reception to Y6 – £4.50 8.00am start.
- For charges relating to children in The Nest and Nursery please contact Mrs Durham
- All payments for breakfast club are paid via Arbor or using Childcare Vouchers and must be paid in full by the beginning of each 1/2 term’s provision.
Breakfast Club sessions are booked half termly by parents using Arbor, places can be booked for set days of the week or specific dates in that time period.
Occasional Bookings
Anyone wishing to make an occasional booking, can contact the school office on 0114 2570153 to check if we have any Breakfast Club places available.
After School Club
After School Club is available for all children and runs straight after school until 5.45pm. The time is split between two sessions 3:15-4:30pm (early) or 3:15 – 5:45pm (Late). Like Breakfast Club, After School Club is split across different room based on age .
Early Session Food
Children attending the early session will receive a light snack of any of the following;
- Toast (selection of Spreads)
- Sandwich/ Wrap (selection of fillings)
- Fresh Fruit
- Vegetable sticks
- Yoghurt
- Jelly
- Crumpets
Late Session Food
Children staying for a late session also have the option for a larger snack such as;
- Fish Fingers and Potato Waffles
- Toasted Sandwiches
- Quesadillas
- Jacket Potato (selection of fillings)
- Hot Dog
- Pita Pizza
- Beans on Toast
- Spaghetti on Toast
- Pasta
Timing and Picking Up
Children from the infant building are walked up to After School Club by two members of our KS1 support staff at 3:10pm and children from the junior building go to the wraparound care room after school at 3.20pm. If a child is attending a club before After School Club they are brought to After School Club by the member of staff leading that club when it finishes.
Children must be picked up and signed out by a parent/guardian listed on the clubs safeguarding sheet.
Please note – no vehicles to come down the school drive please.
We do NOT allow parents to drive down on the grounds of safety.
Charges
After School Club sessions are booked 1/2 termly by parents using Arbor. Places can be booked for set days of the week or specific dates in that time period.
The cost for the early session (until 4.30pm) is £6.50 per child per session and the cost for the later session ( up until 5.45pm) is £12.00 per child per session. All payments for after school club are made via Arbor or childcare vouchers and must be paid in full by the beginning of each 1/2 term’s provision.
